Night - Key / 2026
A key must be subservient; it is the lock’s servant. But what happens when a key ceases to obey the laws of geometry—and the laws of the day? It becomes an act of creative will, torn from the night.
These drawings and black-and-white images are a protest against the formulaic. The jagged lines here are not a draftsman’s error, but an expression of character. Charcoal creates ragged, prickly shadows; photography captures somber silhouettes; together, they reveal that any solid form is an illusion the moment the lights go out.
I draw and photograph keys that are never meant for a keyhole, for their true purpose is to unlock the mind. They serve only to open a door you control from within—the very door that opens at three in the morning, when you finally stop pretending. These are portraits of freedom, where every curve represents a choice made in defiance of destiny’s straight line—in the darkness, where no one sees, yet everything is visible.
